Variable Frequency Drives and Phase Converters
Starting your pump system has always been a source of wear and strain on your pump and the system itself. The spike in voltage during startup can put great strain on all electrical parts as well as the electrical bill.
Variable Frequency Drives, or VFD’s, (aka soft starts) can greatly reduce that strain by slowly winding up the motors with a steadily increasing supply of electricity instead of large bump. VFDs can also save you power on systems where different flow rates and pressures are required out of one pump. The VFD will act as a gas pedal on your pump slowing or speeding up your pump motor as more or less water or pressure is needed. This in turn can show a savings in Horse Power as well as your electrical bill.
Many electrical services are now requiring these on new pump installations. Check with your local service provider.
Watson Irrigation offers Danfoss and Phase Technologies VFD’s the best in the industry.
Phase Converters
Is single phase power holding you back? Phase converters can be a great way to overcome the obstacle of single phase power. Phase Converters can take single phase power from the power company and convert it into three phase power for you pumps and pivots.
Phase converters have come a long ways in the past couple years. New Digital Phase converters can use less power to operate than older rotary converters and can be left on with no load on the unit with out hurting it. Digital phase converters have become the best way to convert from single phase to three phase power offering safer and cleaner power than before.
Watson Irrigation works with Phase Technologies to offer the best phase converters.
